A summer hair regime should include regular maintenance, color, and styling. Stylist Billy Moffett suggests the following tips for achieving an environmentally-friendly style that looks great when the heat is on.
|
1 |
Love Your Locks:
A busy summer activity schedule may make regular maintenance more difficult, but regular trims and hyrdrating/conditioning treatments are more important during extreme heat to protect hair from potential sun damage.
|
2 |
Lighten Up:
Rather than working against the sun, ask your colorist about highlights. Lightening your hair color a level or two may uncover a new hue and a new you!
|
3 |
Don't forget SPF:
Lighter hair color is more susceptible to sun damage, so ask your stylist about shampoos/conditioners and leave-in treatments with SPF15 or higher. Swimming pools may make blonde hair may appear green, so ask your stylist about a safe and effective clarifying treatment to help reverse the harmful effects of chlorine.

Keep the length:
If you're thinking about that cute bob, you may want to wait until after summer. With record heat and humidity, you will want to have the option of pulling your hair back -- save the shorter length cuts for the longer turtle neck sweaters.
|

Consider Keratin:
Keratin is an effective retexturizing treatment that makes hair straight and smooth, regardless of climate. A life-saver for women with light curls who often experience frizz, Keratin eliminates frizz and reduces blow-dry time by 50%, so there's more time to do what you want this summer -- all with gorgeous hair!
