Joya Spa is truly the jewel of InterContinental Montelucia Resort & Spa. The spacious, 31,000 square foot Moroccan-themed spa is named as an interpretation of the Spanish world for jewel and for the experience of joy – the spa provides magical experiences and helps people feel better and find joy in their lives. Joya spa channels the raw splendor of Morocco with whitewashed walls, Moroccan-inspired décor, architectural details, contrasting vibrant hues of ochre and turquoise, with multi-colored, custom made tiles.

What are the product lines you use at the spa?

Sabrina: The signature of Joya Spa is full customization. Every treatment, whether facial, body or massage, is customized to the guests needs, health and skin type. Product lines were selectively chosen to complement the Joya Spa experience and include the Vogue-awarded Natura Bisse, Eminence organic, Charme de Orient, Phyto Fleurs, Lillian Terry mud and clays, and other results-oriented product lines.

Spa director Sabrina Cormack and the resort Managing Director Valeriano Antonioli worked for nearly two years reviewing hundreds of scents before selecting Joyambrosia as the exclusive signature scent to be infused in the signature spa line and diffused throughout the spa’s treatment rooms. They teamed up with Katie Hess, an organic alchemist, to create a formula of pure aromatherapy oils from fruits, spices, and flowers to support the spa’s luxurious and exotic atmosphere of Mediterranean magic and mystery, as well as reflect their firm commitment to a “green” lifestyle and sustainability. Joyambrosia was then infused into Joya’s “Layla & Qays” signature organic body product line and combined with gemstone essences of diamond, sapphire, and gold, and a proprietary blend of flower essences, including a rare night-blooming flower called Queen of the Night that resides in the spa arrival courtyard.

Our signature Joyambrosia blend warms your heart and your body with organic oils including Morocco’s “liquid gold’ argan oil, enhanced by the light of the full moon. Signature Facial 75 minutes
Relax as a trained expert closely analyzes your skin and designs a treatment just for you. This tailored service infuses precise ingredients that leave your skin balanced and radiant. Create your customized experience to treat dehydrated skin, stop breakouts, address fine lines and wrinkles, diffuse redness, infuse oxygen into congested pores and bring back even skin tone.

Hammam
For thousands of years, numerous cultures and peoples around the world have celebrated the healing and transformative power of bathing rituals. For the people of Northern Africa and Moorish Spain, the Hammam gained popularity around the year 600. After the splendor of the Roman Empire receded into the boot of Italy, the architectural remains of their baths inspired a Mediterranean bathing ritual that was a pleasurable, cleansing, and social experience. Joya is Proud to present Arizona’s only Hammam-inspired Luxury Spa.

Lounge in our exclusive Hammam warming room featuring iridescent heated seats and rose water mist. Delight in a brisk scrub using traditional Herbal Black Soap applied with a Kassa cloth. Follow with an herbal steam, whirlpool, sauna, and cold deluge to complete the transformative experience.

Joya Fitness
Joya Fitness is a destination facility run by Fitness Director and Wellness and Lifestyle Coach Tom Drath, set within Joya Spa. The 37-piece (19 cardio, 18 strength) state-of-the-art Technogym-equipped fitness center overlooks Camelback Mountain and the rural desert beauty of Paradise Valley, creating a stunning place to work up a sweat. The center features full iPod integration in the equipment, along with the latest technology, as well as two free weight areas, a stretching station and group fitness in the motion studio, sunrise yoga, sunset spinning, Pilates, tai chi, dance and other group fitness classes, as well as an open-air terrace.

Joya Salon
A favorite of the local clientele, Joya Salon is under the direction of New York-based stylist-to-the-stars Ray Issa. Often referred to as a “Stylist to the Stars, ” he has styled the hair of many famous heads featured on hit television shows including Blind Date, Regis and Kelly, Fox News, Sex & The City, and more. Joya Salon has 9 styling stations, 6 manicure and 5 pedicure stations with Zero-Gravity relaxation and massage chairs for back-to-basics treatments, as well as a private relaxation courtyard for outdoor manicures or pedicures or to enjoy coffee, chocolate, wine or gelato from Crave Café.

Joya Bazaar
Joya Bazaar offers guests extraordinary boutique shopping with designer product lines, fashion-forward retail and continually refreshed must-have items. Designers including Susana Monaco, Lululemon Athletica, Natura Bisse, designer denim and apparel, Hanky Panky lingerie, and all spa and beauty products used in Joya Spa and Salon. Joya Spa Terrace Restaurant & Juice Bar

Sabrina: The Terrace restaurant offers , fresh fruit smoothies, salads, sandwiches, etc.-- but in keeping with Joya’s mission to enhance life and bring joy -- burgers, French fries, sangria and cocktails, signature Joya sweets, and other indulgent food and drinks are also on the menu. The bistro-style Joya Terrace also features an innovative Spa Herbal, Flower & Gem Elixir Bar designed by Joya’s organic alchemist, a selection of herbal tonics and flower and gem elixirs, both using organic herbs, fruits, and flowers.
