Lu Meshulam Founder • Lumesh Cosmetics • www.lumesh.com
Makeup artist and businesswoman Lu Meshulam is living her life’s purpose to beautify the world around her one face at a time. Originally from Colorado, Lu started out as a flight attendant, which landed her in New York City where she studied at the School of Visual Arts. “I always loved makeup. I watched my mom put on makeup growing up.” Her passion for makeup led her to work with Chanel doing makeovers. Lu evolved her career by working with Federic Fekkai where she worked on clients such as Quincy Jones, Sarah Jessica Parker and Gladys Knight. Lu’s artistry has been displayed across various forms of media, such as the VH1 and MTV award shows, and publications such as Self, Town & Country and Quest. “I saw the need for different products. I began to focus on industry needs and target the way cosmetics are packaged. I want to become the designer of cosmetics and change the industry because it is oversaturated.” Lu’s 7-year journey has produced her signature line, Lumesh, which features mascara and beautiful lip gloss shades. She describes her product line as “practical, minimal, not typical.” Lu’s vision continues to expand to a variety of businesses that she would like to build, and share what she learns with young women. “Eventually I would like to teach topics like beauty and self-esteem, especially for the Latina community.”
Lu spends her days focusing on business details and her evenings are spent with her beautiful 2 year-old son. Lu works long hours each day because she wears all the hats that are involved in getting her product to the public. With her busy schedule Lu makes time to go to the gym, and when she can, enjoys running. “Doing that makes a difference. I’m not 100% there, but I’m trying!”
As one of seven children, Lu wants to be able to share what she has done with her family. “I want to show that you can become whatever you want to with ambition.” She has such a love for what she does that she seeks to touch lives by sharing positive messages and being a role model. “Finding a good role model will help me to be a better one.”
“Stay positive, take advice and criticism in perspective. Don’t take everything seriously and don’t doubt yourself. Always listen to your inner voice.” |
Sweet Indulgence Cutler Salon – Lu sees stylist Dawn Hiller who is awesome at cutting hair and keeps Lu’s hair healthy. “She is in tune with me and her clients.”
